Fluvial Erosion Hazard Mitigation Manual
Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs | Statewide, IN
As part of the Indiana Silver Jackets’ fluvial erosion hazard mitigation program in cooperation with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, Burke worked with a team to create a statewide manual addressing fluvial erosion hazards. The manual offers guidance for selecting, categorizing and addressing hazards related to fluvial erosion, as well as for best practices to mitigate stream erosion in areas where it may lead to property and/or infrastructure damage.
In addition to preparing the manual, Burke prepared preliminary engineering reports to serve as pilot projects and put the manual to the test. Each pilot project site was experiencing fluvial erosion hazards, presenting the project team with the opportunity to demonstrate the manual’s effectiveness.
